Four money lenders have been arrested in connection with the alleged abetment of suicide of a couple and their son in Hyderabad nearly a week ago, reports TOI. Police said the accused were booked under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mohammed Wasi Uz Zaman, P Rajasekhara Reddy, Mohammed Nawaz and Syed Majeed Hyder, are residents of Moula Ali.

On February 24, Kadgekar Ramraj, 54, his wife Madhavi and their son Kadgekar Shashank Raj were found dead at their residence in Amberpet. In a complaint, Ramraj’s daughter alleged that it was a suicide pact and stated that her parents and brother took the extreme step due to harassment by financiers who were pressuring her father to repay loans.
Police said suicide notes recovered from the scene referred to harassment by illegal financiers and indicated that the family was forced to take the extreme step, reports TOI.


Allegations of high interest and intimidation

Police told TOI, the deceased had borrowed ₹57 lakh from the accused and had started hotels at Mallapur and Chakripuram. The lenders allegedly collected high interest on a daily basis.

Police alleged that the accused obtained blank cheques, promissory notes and original land documents from the deceased. They also allegedly threatened and humiliated the family over phone calls and warned that they would visit their residence to publicly insult them.

Investigation and seizure of documents

As part of the investigation, police examined call data records to ascertain whether the accused had contacted the family in the hours preceding the alleged suicide pact.

Officers said they seized around 12 blank cheques issued by the deceased, six blank promissory notes, memorandums of understanding, mortgage-cum-loan agreements, and documents related to three acres of agricultural land at Gandamalla village in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
