Hyderabad man dies by suicide in Texas after completing master’s degree, family seeks help to bring body home

A Hyderabad youth, who had completed a master’s degree from a US university, allegedly died by suicide in San Antonio, Texas, on August 21, amid reported difficulties in finding employment.

According to his family and social media posts shared by members of the Indian community in the US, Sai Pradeep had been searching for a job for several months after completing his master’s in computer science from the Anderson University College of Business in South Carolina.

Pradeep Moved to US in 2024

Pradeep travelled to the US in 2024 to pursue higher studies. His cousin Deepthi, in a GoFundMe campaign, recalled his time there and described him as someone who was curious and eager to learn.

“In 2024, he came to the US. He recently finished his master’s degree and was looking for a job. During his time in the US, he learned Spanish, and we were all amazed by how quickly he picked up a new language—a reflection of his curiosity and eagerness to learn,” she wrote. His friends and family affectionately called him ‘Deepu’.

Family Seeks Help to Bring Body Home

Deepthi said Pradeep’s death had left his family and loved ones devastated. “His unexpected passing has left his parents, family, and loved ones with a loss that is difficult to put into words,” the GoFundMe post stated.

The fundraising campaign aims to cover the cost of bringing Pradeep’s body back to his hometown of Dammaiguda in Hyderabad, along with funeral and other related expenses. As of Monday, the fundraiser had collected more than USD 27,000 against its USD 35,000 goal. Deepthi said any amount left after the immediate arrangements would be used to support Pradeep’s parents.

“Any funds remaining after the immediate arrangements will go toward supporting his parents and helping with their future needs,” she wrote.

Friends Remember Pradeep as Kind and Respectful

Pradeep’s LinkedIn profile and social media posts shared by friends indicated that he had previously worked with Amazon in Hyderabad before moving to the US. Friends remembered him fondly and described him as “kind, respectful, professional and genuinely good-hearted”.

His cousin also paid tribute to his personality, remembering him for his “strength, determination, kindness, and love for life.”
