According to police officials cited by ANI, the raid targeted a dairy manufacturing unit named Pride Dairy located in Bholanagar on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ande Srinivasa Rao, who stated that the unit was involved in producing adulterated ghee using palm oil, vanaspati and other inferior ingredients.

Authorities apprehended Mohammed Junaid Hussain, a 26-year-old businessman residing in Bhola Nagar, who was allegedly running the illegal operation.

Police investigations revealed that the accused was selling the adulterated products as pure cow and buffalo ghee.

These items were reportedly supplied to:

  • Local consumers
  • Hotels and food outlets
  • Event organisers and caterers

Authorities warned that such products pose a serious health risk, as they contain cheap oils and low-quality substances instead of pure dairy ingredients.

Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Following the raid, police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The case has been filed under Sections 318(4), 274 and 275, which deal with food adulteration and sale of harmful substances.

The investigation is being handled by the Masabtank Police, with assistance from the Task Force teams.

Growing Concern Over Food Adulteration in India

Food safety experts say incidents like this point to the growing challenge of dairy adulteration in urban markets.

Adulterated products not only mislead consumers but can also lead to serious health problems, particularly when low-quality oils and chemicals are used in place of genuine dairy ingredients.

Authorities have urged consumers to buy dairy products from trusted sources and check packaging labels carefully to avoid unsafe food items.

The Hyderabad raid is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal food manufacturing units and protect public health.
