Officials said the act occurred after the woman refused to marry him due to his health condition. The accused has been arrested and booked for attempted murder, and is currently in judicial custody.
Victim’s Mental Distress and Suicide Note
Police revealed that the woman left behind a suicide note in which she blamed the accused for ruining her life. She also expressed distress over negative comments on social media and the breach of her privacy."The suicide note the woman left behind said the accused had ruined her life, and that the criminal act had resulted in many negative comments about her on social media. She was upset that her privacy had been breached and apologised to her parents for killing herself," Pocharam IT Corridor sub-inspector Vijay Bhaskar Reddy said.
Authorities stated that she apologised to her parents in the note before taking the extreme step.
HIV Status Not Yet Confirmed
Officials clarified that there is no confirmation yet regarding whether the woman had contracted HIV, as testing for the virus typically requires a window period of up to three months.The uncertainty surrounding her health, combined with emotional trauma, is believed to have contributed to her distress.
Family Discovers Incident After Returning Home
The woman was staying with her grandmother, who, along with her parents, works as a flower seller. The family discovered the incident when the grandmother returned home later in the morning.The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further legal action is being considered.
Police Probe Expands, Abetment Charge Possible
Investigators are now examining whether additional charges, including abetment to suicide, can be filed against the accused based on the family’s statement.Police officials also noted that the woman had initially kept the assault a secret, only revealing it after developing symptoms such as fever and body pain, which led to medical examination.
