Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar, known for his soul-stirring voice and contribution to Odia cinema, tragically passed away on Monday evening at the age of 34. He had been undergoing intensive treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the past three days and was under continuous monitoring by specialists, with advanced life-support systems employed to stabilise him.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi Offers Heartfelt Condolences

Following the sad news, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi took to his X account to express grief over the loss. He stated, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of renowned playback singer Humane Sagar. His demise is an irreparable loss to our music and cinema. I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to God for the peace of the departed soul.”

Tributes poured in from fans, colleagues, and fellow artists, highlighting the immense impact Sagar had on Odia music and culture during his short yet brilliant career.


How Humane Sagar Became an Icon in Odisha

Humane Sagar hailed from a deeply musical family. Both his parents were accomplished singers, while his grandfather was a composer for private albums, instilling a passion for music from a young age. Sagar’s talent first gained public recognition when he participated in the reality TV show Voice of Odisha on Tarang TV in 2012, where he emerged as the winner, marking the beginning of his successful career.

Humane Sagar’s Hit Songs That Won Hearts Across the State

Sagar’s professional breakthrough came with the feature film Ishq Tu Hi Tu, produced by Tarang Cine Productions, where he sang the title track composed by Abhijit Majumdar. The song became an instant hit, and Sagar went on to lend his voice to hundreds of Odia films.

He also ventured into non-film music, releasing the Hindi album Mera Yeh Jahan and contributing to popular Odia albums like Tuma Otha Tale, Niswasa, Bekhudee, and Chehera in 2017. His melodious voice earned him recognition not only in Odisha but among Odia-speaking audiences worldwide.
