How the Incident Came to Light
The matter surfaced when the boy’s sister asked for her jewellery at home. As family members opened the almirah, they found it completely empty. Shocked by the discovery, they questioned the Class 7 student, who allegedly told them he had given the ornaments to three youths who ran a momo stall nearby.
According to the family, the boy believed he was exchanging the jewellery for food.
Who Are the Accused?
Police said the accused youths operated a momo stall at Dumri Chauraha on the Deoria–Kasya road. Over time, they allegedly befriended the boy, who lives in the village for his studies, and slowly won his trust.Investigators believe the trio deliberately targeted the child, knowing he had access to valuables at home.
Jewellery Worth Rs 85 Lakh Allegedly Taken
The stolen jewellery reportedly belonged to both the boy and his sister. The total value has been estimated at around Rs 85 lakh, making the case particularly serious.After allegedly receiving the jewellery, the accused are said to have fled the area.
FIR Registered, Police Launch Search
An FIR has been registered at Rampur Karkhana police station based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father, Vimlesh Mishra, who works as a temple priest in Varanasi.Rampur Karkhana SHO Devendra Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been lodged and efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals in the area.
Police Probe Focuses on Manipulation Angle
Officials said the investigation is focusing on how the youths gained the child’s confidence and whether similar attempts were made with other children in the area.Police have urged parents to remain alert and educate children about strangers, even those they see daily.
