How much does it cost to live near Manali?
Divya and her partner, Saurav, shared their experience in a viral Instagram video titled “Living in the mountains, episode 1,” explaining how much they spend on housing, food, fuel, electricity and leisure activities.
Rent Near Manali
The couple also operates a homestay near Manali and lives in a 4BHK property. "Let's start with the rent. We also run a homestay near Manali, so we live in a 4BHK. But if someone just plans to live, a rented 1BHK costs around Rs 15,000 and a 2BHK costs around Rs. 25,000," said Divya.Grocery And Eating-Out Expenses
According to Divya, the couple prepares most of their meals at home, keeping their monthly grocery expenses at around Rs 10,000. They spend an additional Rs 5,000 on eating out."We cook most of our meals, so our monthly grocery bill is around Rs 10,000, and eating out adds another Rs 5,000," she said, adding that fuel wasn't a huge expense either.
Fuel And Electricity Costs
Living in the mountains also helps the couple save on transportation costs, as they usually walk to nearby places. Despite that, they spend approximately Rs 3,000 every month on fuel."Fuel isn't a huge expense for us, as we walk here mostly. Still, it is around Rs 3,000 a month," she said.
The couple also pointed out that some basic living costs are considerably lower. While their water supply costs them nothing, their monthly electricity bill is around Rs 1,000.
Mountain Adventures
With nature readily accessible around them, the couple does not have to spend much on entertainment or outings. Most of their outdoor activities are free, although they set aside around Rs 3,000 a month for their mountain adventures.Monthly Cost Of Living In The Mountains
