According to a report by The Times of India (TOI), the accused, Krishna Jaiswal (31), was arrested on Friday after his wife approached the police with a complaint. The incident occurred on Wednesday at their rented home in Jhadsentli area of Faridabad, where the family had recently shifted from Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh.
Beaten Over Homework, Police Say
Police officials said the child, identified as Vanshika, was being taught at home by her father. During the lesson, she allegedly failed to write numbers from 1 to 50 correctly. Enraged by this, Jaiswal allegedly struck her repeatedly with a rolling pin and slammed her onto the floor. After the assault, he reportedly rushed the child to a hospital and attempted to mislead his wife by claiming that the girl had fallen down the stairs while playing. However, the truth came out when the couple’s seven-year-old son told his mother what had actually happened.
The mother, Ranjita, also noticed visible injury marks on the child’s body and immediately informed the police.

Child Declared Dead at Hospital
Doctors at the hospital declared the child dead on arrival. A police officer, quoted by TOI, said the girl had suffered severe head injuries. The accused repeated the same false story to hospital staff, claiming the child had met with an accident at home.Following the complaint, police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 58 police station in Faridabad.
Father Taken on Remand, Probe Underway
Jaiswal has been taken into custody and remanded for a day for further questioning. Police are recording statements from family members and neighbours to piece together the sequence of events.Officials said both parents work in a private company, with the mother on day shifts and the father working nights. The children were usually left in his care during the day. The victim was not enrolled in any school and was being taught at home.
The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the final cause of death will be confirmed after medical reports are received.
Authorities Stress Zero Tolerance for Child Abuse
A Faridabad police spokesperson said the case is being investigated thoroughly and strict action will be taken. “Such acts of violence against children will not be tolerated. The law will take its course,” the official said. The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger awareness around child safety, mental health, and parental counselling, especially in households where young children are homeschooled or left unattended for long hours.
