The much-anticipated third season of House of the Dragon now has an official premiere date. Streaming platform HBO Max has unveiled a new teaser trailer along with key details about the upcoming season.

According to an announcement shared on HBO Max’s official Instagram handle, House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on June 21 at 9 PM ET. The new season will consist of eight episodes, releasing weekly, with the finale scheduled for August 9, as reported by Variety.

Alongside the release date, HBO Max also dropped a gripping teaser for the new season. Sharing the clip, the makers teased intense drama ahead, writing: “There will be no doubt who the gods have chosen to rule.”


Based on George R. R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the series is set nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It chronicles the brutal Targaryen civil war, famously known in Westerosi history as the “Dance of the Dragons.”

The ensemble cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, and Tom Glynn-Carney, among others.

The series is co-created by Ryan Condal and George R. R. Martin, both of whom also serve as executive producers. Condal additionally takes on the role of showrunner.
