Honda is preparing to introduce an updated version of its well-known sedan, the City. Recently, camouflaged test models of the facelifted Honda City have reportedly been spotted in Brazil, hinting at what’s to come.

Reports suggest the facelift could arrive later this year, likely in the second half, as Honda is expected to roll out the next-generation City around 2028. This timing indicates that the upcoming update will focus more on refinement than a complete overhaul.

Based on the spy images, the refreshed City is expected to receive subtle design tweaks rather than major changes. These may include a redesigned grille, a more pronounced front bumper, and updated headlamps that lend a sharper, sportier look. Some reports indicate that the styling cues could be inspired by the latest Honda Civic. The side profile may get new alloy wheels, while the rear could feature revised bumper detailing.

In terms of size, the sedan is likely to remain largely unchanged, with only minor adjustments—possibly due to updated bumpers. Inside the cabin, Honda may introduce refreshed seat upholstery to enhance the interior appeal.

For the Indian market, the 2026 Honda City facelift could bring in additional features such as a 360-degree camera and ventilated seats. However, some of the changes seen on the Brazilian test model may be specific to that market. That said, there is a strong chance that both India- and Brazil-spec versions will share several updates, as seen with the 2023 facelift.

Mechanically, the facelift is likely to retain the existing engine options in both markets. In India, the 2026 City is expected to have the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121 PS and 145 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The model is likely to be E20 fuel compliant.

Feature-wise, the update is expected to retain most of the current equipment. The existing India-spec model already includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an 8-speaker audio setup. Other features include ambient lighting, automatic climate control, a PM 2.5 air filter, and a leather-wrapped gear knob. Safety remains a strong point, with a suite of Level 2 ADAS features.
