Another mythological tale reveals that Prahlada, a follower of Lord Vishnu, worshipped him for these eight days and received heavenly aid in return.

While there are some things that are forbidden during Holashtak, there are also a number of auspicious rituals that one can follow. Holashtak is the best time to worship Lord Vishnu and chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.
