The 24-year-old MBA student from Indore, accused of indulging in necrophilia after killing her girlfriend, showed no remorse when he was asked why he committed the crime. The accused Piyush Dhamnodiya acted casually when he was questioned by reporters, brushing aside queries about the killing of his girlfriend. Shrugging off questions about the motive behind the murder, he said, “Kuch nai hua hai, chhodo, ho gaya jo hogaya yaar… chhod do na… kya karoge jaan ke,” he said in Hindi, refusing to explain his actions.

When asked whether he regrets what he has done, he responded with a faint smirk and said he would reveal the reason “when the time comes”. Piyush displayed striking indifference when the crime scene was re-constructed and police officials present at the reconstruction scene described his demeanour as 'unusually calm'. They noted that during interrogation and the subsequent proceedings, his behaviour appeared erratic and emotionally detached. Police noted his claims of wanting to communicate with the victim's spirit and his consumption of occult content.

Why did Indore MBA student kill his girlfriend?

According to a report in NDTV, Police allege that Piyush Dhamnotiya pressured the woman for sex, but she refused, saying that she was unwell. Police claimed then he raped her. According to police, after raping the woman, he tied her hands and feet with ropes available in the apartment and blindfolded her, telling her he wanted to give her a "gift."

When she resisted again, police allege he stuffed cloth into her mouth and sat on her chest, choking her until she lost consciousness. Realising she had stopped breathing, police say he stabbed her near the chest with a knife with such force that the blade broke.

The victim, a first-year MBA student at an institute in Indore, left home on Tuesday after telling her family she needed to get her birth certificate corrected. Her father dropped her near the collectorate earlier that day, the report said. Later, she spoke to her younger sister on the phone and said she would attend a birthday gathering with her classmate and boyfriend, Piyush Dhamnotiya, and would return home by 11 pm. But she didn't. Soon afterwards, the phone was switched off.

Around the same time, objectionable videos featuring the woman were shared from her phone in a college WhatsApp group. While her face was clearly visible, the other individual’s face was hidden using emojis. Investigators suspect that the man in the footage is Dhamnotiya. Police say 11 objectionable videos were circulated using the victim's phone after the incident.

The clips were shared in a college WhatsApp group, uploaded to her WhatsApp status, and sent to contacts saved on her phone, alarming relatives and acquaintances. The victim's father alleged that his daughter had been mentally tortured and blackmailed by Dhamnotiya before her death. He said she had expressed concerns to her younger sister.

During interrogation, police stated that Dhamnotiya provided multiple versions of the events. In one account, he claimed that he wanted to marry the woman but felt she was distancing herself, as she had not spoken to him for about 15 days. He said he noticed a dating app on her phone and assumed she was communicating with another man, which led to an argument that eventually escalated.
