Hindu festivals that will fall in December this year; check for details

The Hindu months of Margashirsha and Pausha will fall in December this year and this means that it will be full of festivals and celebrations.

The winter month will observe a number of festivals like Saphala Ekadashi, Gita Jayanti, Karthgai Deepam, Moksha Ekadashi, and among others.

• Gita Jayanti - December 3, 2022: The day commemorates the creation of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, the holy book of Hindus. December 2022 will mark the 5159th anniversary of the Bhagwat Gita.
• Vaishnava Mokshada Ekadashi - December 4, 2022: According to the Hindu culture, this vrat (fast) is observed to achieve freedom (moksha) from the cycle of birth and death. It is observed by all the followers of Lord Vishnu.
• Hanuman Jayanti - December 5, 2022: This day is celebrated as the birth of the Hindu deity Hanuman, one of the protagonists of the Ramayan and the festival is popularly celebrated by Kannada people.
• Pradosh Vrat - December 5, 2022: It is observed on Trayodashi Tithi. The worshippers of Lord Shiva keep a full-day fast, thanking the Lord for protecting humanity from danger.
• Karthigai Deepam - December 6, 2022: Tamilians celebrate Karthgai Deepam in the period of Karthigai Nakshatram. The festival of lights is devoted to Karthikeya and Lord Shiva.
• Dattatreya Jayanti - December 7, 2022: The day marks the birth of Lord Dattatreya, who is believed to be an incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shankar.
• Annapurna Jayanti - December 8, 2022: People express gratitude and worship the goddess of food, Annapurna.
• Akhuratha Sankashti Ganesh Chaturthi - December 11, 2022: It is observed in the Krishna Paksha, and followers of Lord Ganesh keep a full day fast.
• Saphala Ekadashi - December 19, 2022: The followers of Lord Vishnu, known as Vaishnavas, observe a 24-hour fast from Dashami Tithi evening to Dwadashi Tithi morning.
