Thousands of beer cans were scattered on a highway in Florida after a semitrailer carrying cases of Coors Light crashed earlier this week.

A report by AP said the Florida highway was temporarily closed on Wednesday after the crash turned the roadway into a silver sea of beer cans.

It was a multi-vehicle crash involved five semitrailers and a pickup truck. One semitrailer clipped another while changing lanes, and both pulled over. At this, two other semis also were forced to brake. But then a fifth semi - filled with cases of Coors Light beer cans - failed to brake and collided with a pickup truck and another one of the stopping semis.

The pileup occurred shortly after 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Tampa, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The inside shoulder and travel lanes were opened to traffic by 8:30 a.m, and the rest of the roadway was reopened around noon.

There were minor injuries to people in the pickup truck.
