Hera Pheri 3: Kartik Aaryan good choice, but won’t replace Akshay Kumar, says Suniel Shetty

The third edition of the popular comedy franchise 'Hera Pheri' was recently confirmed. However, it got people talking after Akshay Kumar, who plays "Raju," in the film, said he opted out of Hera Pheri 3, citing creative differences. Following the confirmation of Kartik Aaryan's role in the film, rumours circulated that he would be replacing Akshay Kumar.

However, Suneil Shetty (Shyam) has confirmed that, though Kartik was a good choice, he would be donning an absolutely new character. He further added that no one could replace Akshay, the iconic street-smart character in the first two movies.

Rumours of Kartik replacing Akshay started after Paresh Rawal, who plays the legendary "Babu Bhaiya," recently hinted that the former would take over as Raju. Suneil has clarified the rumours and confirmed that Kartik will play a new character and not replace Akshay. Shetty praised Kartik and said the young actor would bring amazing energy.


The first Hera Pheri was released back in 2000, and it went on to become one of the most iconic movies in Indian cinema. The three central characters, Raju, Shyam, and Babu Bhaiya, became extremely popular, and the internet is flooded with memes based on the first two movies.

The sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, came out in 2006 and also became a blockbuster. The first part was directed by Priyadarshini, and the second by Neeraj Vora. Hera Pheri 3 will be directed by Anees Bazmee.
