Heavy rainfall alert by IMD for Tamil Nadu, 3 other states

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, and Andhra Pradesh around December 13.

The IMD said a low-pressure area will likely develop over south peninsular India and the adjoining east central Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours resulting in heavy rains.

The IMD said most places would witness light to moderate rainfall. In contrast, isolated places in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rayalseema, Andhra Pradesh, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Kerala would have heavy rains on December 12 13, which would reduce in a while.

IMD has also advised fishermen to avoid the southeast and east central Arabian Sea along with the Kerala-Karnataka coast and the Lakshadweep region on December 12 and 13.
