Jeff Bezos accepts philanthropy award; ex-wife Mackenzie Scott donates more

Lauren Sanchez accompanied Jeff Bezos as he received the Galileo Prophets of Philanthropy Award at the Vatican for his work. She shared a video clip of the Amazon founder's acceptance speech at the Vatican on Instagram, with the caption saying she was proud of him.

The church had supported Bezos' stepfather when he moved from Cuba to the US at the age of 16. Bezos expressed his thanks to the church for it. Jeff Bezos also spoke about environmental issues and said the world needs the best leadership and science to solve the issues.

His ex-wife Mackenzie Scott is meanwhile on a donation spree, reportedly donating around $84.5mn to the USA Girl Scouts this week. USA Girl Scouts membership took a plunge during the pandemic, and this donation would be the biggest they have received. The donation will help them recover from the Covid-19 impact. Mackenzie had donated $275mn to Planned Parenthood earlier this year.
