Alex Sunny claims to be a 26-year-old American woman who will be going to Afghanistan to live with her husband.

A 26-year-old American truck driver has drawn attention on TikTok after claiming she is leaving the United States to move permanently to Afghanistan to live with her husband. According to Alex Sunny, she married her Afghan husband and has not met him for two years.

Alex Sunny's videos have attracted millions of views, but they have also raised questions about whether her story is genuine or not. While some users have wished her well, many others have expressed concern about her safety, and several have questioned the authenticity of both her account and her claims.

"She says she met a man on Snapchat, spent 12 days with him in Pakistan, married him, and after his US visa was denied, she blamed President Trump and what she called his “racist” immigration policies. Now she’s planning to move to Afghanistan on August 3," a post on X read.

It is important to note that many of Sunny's statements have not been independently verified. Her TikTok account only recently gained widespread attention, prompting social media users to scrutinize her story.

According to her TikTok videos, Alex Sunny is a 26-year-old American truck driver. She says she has dual American and Jordanian citizenship through her American mother from Kentucky and her Jordanian father.

Sunny claims she met her Afghan husband on Snapchat in July 2024. The two reportedly met in person for the first time in December 2024 and later got married. However, she says they have spent very little time together.

Now, she said she has decided to relocate to Afghanistan because her husband cannot travel to the United States due to the US travel ban.

"I haven’t seen my husband in almost two years, so I’m just going to go where he’s at because he can’t come to where I’m at," Sunny said in one of her viral videos.

She has claimed that she plans to move in August this year.

Why does Alex Sunny say she is moving to Afghanistan?

Sunny says the decision is driven by her desire to reunite with her husband after a long separation. Besides living with him and his family, she has said she wants to learn about Afghan history and culture, try traditional Afghan food, and respect local customs and traditions.

Her videos often describe her move as an opportunity to experience her husband's country while building a life together.

Viral TikTok videos trigger mixed reactions

As Sunny's videos spread across TikTok, thousands of users flooded the comments section with questions and warnings.

Many urged her to reconsider the move, citing concerns about women's rights and security in Afghanistan. Others questioned whether she fully understood the realities of living in the country.

Sunny has responded to several of these concerns in follow-up videos.

She claimed that her husband's aunt attends a gym and has also tried to explain her understanding of Afghanistan's social norms and travel restrictions. She has repeatedly mentioned her half-Jordanian background while discussing why she believes she can adapt to life there.

Why are people questioning Alex Sunny's story?

Not everyone is convinced that Sunny's story is real. Several social media users have alleged that the account could be part of a Taliban public relations campaign, while others have questioned whether Sunny is even a real person. However, there is no publicly available evidence to support those allegations.

Some users believe the account is designed simply to generate engagement and controversy through provocative content.

Because the account only recently became popular, many viewers have said they are waiting for independent verification before accepting the claims at face value.

TikTok user offers four theories behind the viral videos

Adding to the online debate, another TikTok creator who claimed to have previously worked with Afghan advocacy groups shared what she described as four possible explanations for Sunny's decision.

The woman speculated that Sunny might believe she would receive special treatment in Afghanistan because she is American. She also suggested—without providing evidence—that Sunny's husband could be a Taliban official and wondered whether the videos could be part of a broader public relations effort.

The creator further speculated that Sunny may feel protected because of her growing online visibility. These claims remain speculative and have not been substantiated.

Others call it engagement farming

While some viewers continue to debate Sunny's motives, others believe there is a much simpler explanation.

A number of TikTok users have dismissed the videos as rage-bait or engagement farming, arguing that controversial content often attracts millions of views and fuels discussion on social media.

At this stage, many aspects of Alex Sunny's story—including details surrounding her marriage, relocation plans, and personal background—remain unverified. As her videos continue to circulate online, the debate over whether the story is genuine or simply another viral internet phenomenon shows no sign of slowing down.
