Has Yash’s ‘Toxic’ been shelved forever? Here’s the truth behind the rumours
Speculation about Kannada star Yash's film 'Toxic' being shelved has been debunked. Yash clarified the movie is complete but its release is postponed for a global rollout strategy, aiming for wider international reach. The decision stems from posi...

One viral post on X even claimed that the film faced major setbacks after a “disastrous first cut,” adding that despite reshoots and re-editing, the project worsened. The post further alleged that the makers had suffered losses of over ₹500 crore and decided to shelve the film altogether. However, these claims are not backed by any official confirmation.
Putting all rumours to rest, Yash himself addressed the situation through a detailed statement shared on his official X handle. The actor-producer clarified that Toxic is very much on track and has not been shelved. He revealed that the film is already complete and the team is currently working on aligning global distribution and partnerships.
Yash explained that the decision to postpone the release was a strategic one. The film, which was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on June 4, will now arrive at a later date to ensure a globally coordinated release. He also mentioned that Toxic received an “overwhelming global response” during its presentation at CinemaCon, reinforcing the team’s belief in the film’s international appeal.
Emphasising the bigger picture, Yash stated that Indian cinema is entering a phase where it is gaining recognition on the global stage. As an actor and producer, he said he wants to ensure that Toxic reaches audiences worldwide with the impact it deserves, even if that means taking more time.
This clearly indicates that Toxic has not been shelved but is simply being postponed for a more strategic release.
Earlier reports had suggested that the film had already generated close to ₹600 crore in pre-release business, underlining the massive expectations surrounding the project. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tovino Thomas, and Amit Karval.
Interestingly, Toxic was initially slated for a March 19 release, where it was expected to clash with Dhurandhar 2, before being rescheduled to June and now delayed further.
For now, fans may have to wait a little longer—but Toxic is far from being shelved.
