To be unveiled to dealers in October
The announcement was reportedly made during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call, where Chief Executive Jochen Zeitz stated that the Sprint will be presented to dealers at a company event in October. Designed for both domestic and international markets, the Sprint is expected to be a small-capacity motorcycle intended to attract new riders and strengthen Harley-Davidson’s position in the lower-displacement segment.Zeitz said the model, in development since 2021, is part of a broader strategy to achieve sustainable profitability in the entry-level category. “This bike is rooted in our heritage and taps into the spirit of the original Harley-Davidson Sprint,” he said. A second, yet-to-be-named entry-level cruiser is also planned for the 2026 lineup.
Reviving a historic name from the 1960s
The modern Sprint revives a name first used during Harley-Davidson’s partnership with Italian manufacturer Aermacchi. The original Sprint was introduced in 1961 with a 250cc single-cylinder engine, later evolving into the Sprint 350 in 1969 before being discontinued in 1974.Acknowledging past challenges with smaller motorcycles such as the Street 500 and Street 750, Zeitz noted, “We believe that how we’ve engineered this product, it will be profitable.” The Sprint is expected to play a key role in Harley-Davidson’s efforts to re-establish its presence in segments where it has previously struggled.
