Haris Rauf's fiery bouncer gives Bas De Leede an ugly cut below right eye

Pakistan defeated the Netherlands by six wickets in their crucial T20 World Cup match in Perth on Sunday.

Opting to bat, Netherlands found the going tough against the Pakistan bowlers on a bouncy Perth track and struggled to reach 91 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Colin Ackermann top-scored with a run-a-ball 27, while skipper Scott Edwards made 15.

Shadab Khan was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, snapping three wickets for 22 runs in his four overs. Shaheen Afridi (1/19), Mohammad Wasim Jr (2/15), Naseem Shah (1/11) and Haris Rauf (1/10) were also among wickets.


The defeat was not the Dutch side's only worry in the match. Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf hit Dutch batter Bas De Leede on the grill of his helmet, causing an ugly cut right below his right eye.

Though no serious damage was done, the situation was such that De Leede had to head to the pavilion retired hurt after a chat with the team physio.He had to sit in the dugout for the rest of the match with an icepack in his hand. The batsman, after the game, was sent to the hospital for a check-up.

Pakistan has presently one of the finest pace attacks in the world, and Rauf has already developed a reputation for his express pace.

Pakistan chased down the target in 13.5 overs, reaching 95 for four.

Mohammad Rizwan made 49, while Brandon Glover (2/22) picked up two wickets for the Netherlands.
