'Happy Rakshabandhan Chanda Mama,' sand artist's Rakhi sculpture celebrates Chandrayaan-3 success
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, popular sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik celebrated Chandrayaan-3's historic landing on the moon with his sand sculpture.

Sudarshan's tribute was well-received by many people, who praised his creativity and thoughtfulness. One social media user commented, "This is such a beautiful way to celebrate both Raksha Bandhan and the success of Chandrayaan-3."
ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the south pole of the moon on August 23, 2023. This makes India the first country to have achieved this historic feat and brings to an end the disappointment over the crash landing of Chandrayaan-2 four years ago.
India is now the fourth country after the US, China, and Russia to have successfully landed on the moon's surface.
The mission life is for 14 earth days or one lunar day after which the lunar night will set in. Since the rover and the lander are solar powered, they will not be able to function during the lunar night.
Earlier, ISRO announced that the payload or instruments aboard the Pragyan rover of the Chandrayaan-3 mission has confirmed the presence of sulphur and other chemical elements, as expected, on the lunar surface near the south pole, and that the search for hydrogen is underway.
This is something that was not feasible by the instruments onboard the orbiters, Isro said.
