It is believed that Celts introduced Halloween. Celts lived hundreds of years ago in Ireland, northern France and England. They called the festival Samhain when summer ended, and the New Year began on 1st November.
However, many Celts also believed that ghosts visited the Earth a day before the New Year. Hence, the modern-day festival of Halloween is associated with all things spooky.
