As the South Indian actor talked about the significant hardships following her myositis diagnosis in 2022 during shooting of Citadel, Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a recent interview claimed that she had suffered a concussion due to which she completely blanked out and even forgot names.

During an interview with Galatta India, Samantha recalled one such time and jokingly said, “I had a concussion and I forgot the names after that. I completely blanked out. That was quite something. Now that I think of it, nobody took me to the hospital. Nobody asked me.”

However, writer Sita Menon was quick to rebut claims of the acctress. "We were on a call with a doctor." To which, Samantha asked, “Which doctor?” Sita replied, “You don’t remember because you were concussed.”

Samantha humorously recalled, “I remember, during my concussion, hearing that we have the set only for less than a day, we need to finish the shoot. So in my concussion, I was like, ‘I am coming people, I am coming.’ Then I remember the stunt guy was in front of me, and then I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ and they were like, ‘Okay, cut, not happening.'”

Why Samantha was against working for Citadel?

As the actress has been open about her struggles due to her illness, in an interview with Galatta India, Samantha talked about how a diagnosis of myositis-an autoimmune disorder-had her wondering if she could continue on in the physically demanding action series. She even says that she asked directors Raj and DK to replace her in the film, even suggesting a couple of actresses play the role.

"I pleaded for them to go away because I really didn't think I could do it. I sent other recommendations, like 'See this heroine, she'll kill it.' I was not well and truly believed I wouldn't be able to handle it," Samantha shared.

They decided to stay with her even when she didn't believe in herself. Now, she is thankful the creators believed in her. "Watching the show now, I'm thankful they didn't make it without me," she says. "Even before the audience verdict is out, I am giving myself credit for pulling through."

Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ will premiere from November 7. The India chapter of ‘Citadel’ stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
