Gurgaon woman defends corporate jobs, says “as long as it is paying your bills… it’s fine”; explains why she values her 9-to-5 life
In an Instagram video, Akriti reflected on her experience of working in the corporate world and the independence it has given her over the years.
"It has been more than five years for me working in corporate, and in these five years, I have paid for two medical emergencies, travelled a lot, travelled with my family too, and done so many other things, right? I have built my life and my freedom on my own terms," she added.
Akriti On The Trend Of Quitting 9-to-5 Jobs
Akriti also addressed the growing trend on social media around leaving corporate jobs and choosing a different lifestyle. She said the idea of quitting a 9-to-5 job is often presented as though it automatically leads to a happier or more exciting life."Quit that 9-to-5? It sounds so fascinating, doesn't it, to say that quit your corporate job and just enjoy your life, live on your own terms? Right? And it's also trending so much on Instagram. People think that, wow, if we leave our jobs, life will become so happening," she said.
‘You Cannot Demean Others' Work’
Akriti emphasised that people should respect different forms of work instead of assuming that one career path is better than another. She said both businesses and jobs involve creating value in different ways."And I was like, good for you if you are doing that, but you cannot demean others' work. Let me tell you, whatever you do in your life, you provide some value, and in return, you receive some value. Whether it's a job or a business," she said.
According to Akriti, businesses offer products or solutions to customers, while employees use their skills to contribute to organisations and help solve problems.
Akriti Says A Job Can Provide Stability

However, she said that does not mean having a regular job should automatically be considered a bad choice. She pointed out that for many people, employment provides a way to manage household expenses, pay bills, support their families and maintain financial stability.
