A 29-year-old man from Nagpur, working with the Quality Council of India in New Delhi, was found dead in his rented paying guest (PG) accommodation in Sector 53 here on Thursday morning, with police suspecting an overdose of a sex-enhancing drug as the possible cause. The incident has sent shock waves through the locality, highlighting the dangers associated with unregulated use of performance-enhancing medicines and supplements. Police recovered wrappers of several medicines and health supplements from the room, and the body was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination.

Discovery of the Body Raises Alarm

The tragedy came to light when the deceased, identified as Rohit Lal, failed to respond to calls or open his door. His co-worker, who usually accompanied him to the office, grew concerned and informed the police. Officers reached the spot and had to break open the door, only to find Lal lying motionless on the bed.

Wrappers of Medicines Recovered

Inside the room, police found empty wrappers of various medicines and health supplements scattered around. Preliminary investigations pointed towards the possible consumption of a sex-enhancing drug, with officials suspecting that an overdose may have triggered a heart attack.

Victim Had Invited Fiancee Before the Incident

A senior investigating officer revealed that Rohit Lal had invited his fiancée to meet him that day, but he died before her arrival. The exact circumstances and sequence of events are still under scrutiny as the probe continues.

Police Await Forensic Test Results

Sector 53 Station House Officer (SHO) Satender Rawal told PTI, "We sent viscera and the recovered medicines to FSL for testing. The exact cause of death will be revealed only after the viscera report is received. We are investigating all aspects."The police have registered a case and are examining all possible angles, including the source of the medicines. No foul play has been suspected so far, but the investigation remains ongoing.
