An HR executive was brutally attacked by three men with cricket and baseball bats on Tuesday, shortly after his car was rear-ended near IMT Manesar. The victim, Nitesh Bhatia, said the incident felt “planned” rather than a spontaneous road rage, a TOI report stated.

Bhatia, a resident of Sector 1, had just left his Munjal Kiriu office in Sector 4 around 6.30 pm when his Maruti Baleno was hit from behind by an Alto without a number plate near Sarita Handa Exports. He had slowed down at a speed breaker when the collision occurred.

From apology to assault

Initially, the Alto driver apologised, making Bhatia believe the matter could be resolved calmly. “Yes, the driver initially apologised. I thought we would settle the matter there. But all of a sudden, two other men got down with bats and started abusing me,” he told TOI.

According to Bhatia, one of the men carried a baseball bat and another had a cricket willow. “They kept hitting me even after I fell on the road. I was shouting for help, it was terrifying. I had never seen them before,” he added.

The attackers fled only after a few auto-rickshaw drivers and passersby intervened.

Injuries and hospitalisation

Bhatia suffered a deep cut on his left ear that required four stitches, along with injuries to his arms and legs. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Sector 5 and discharged on Thursday afternoon.

“I am still in shock. The mere thought of it disturbs me. The way it happened makes me feel it was much more than just an argument after an accident. As if everything was planned,” Bhatia said.

Sector 7 IMT Manesar police registered an FIR against unidentified persons under sections 281, 125, 324(4), 115(2), and 351(3) of the BNS. An ASI and a constable recorded Bhatia’s statement after receiving a medico-legal report from the hospital.

A police official said, “We are examining CCTV footage. We hope to make arrests soon,” adding that efforts were on to identify and trace the three accused.
