Gurgaon temperature today: Believe it or not, Gurugram turned colder than hill town Shimla as the minimum temperature plunged to 0.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest recorded in Haryana. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, the sharp dip came amid an ongoing cold wave across North India, prompting an orange alert for the city while frost and dense fog added to the winter chill. Some social media user posted even lower temperatures of -1 degrees.

Gurgaon Weather: Gurugram tops Haryana’s cold list

As per the official IMD bulletin shared on X, the lowest minimum temperature in Haryana was recorded at the Gurgaon AWS at 0.6 degrees Celsius. After Gurugram, Narnaul reported the next lowest temperature at 1.2 degrees Celsius.

In comparison, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, recorded a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, making Gurugram colder despite its urban setting.

IMD Chandigarh data shows how quickly the mercury slipped. On Saturday, Gurugram recorded 1.8 degrees Celsius. By Sunday, the minimum temperature rose to 4.1 degrees Celsius, before dropping sharply overnight.

Delhi also feels the winter bite

The cold wave extended beyond Haryana. In Delhi, the minimum temperature on Monday stood at three degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road. This came a day after Ayanagar recorded a low of 2.9 degrees Celsius, underlining the spread of severe cold across the region.

Gurgaon Weather Forecast: Orange alert issued as cold wave persists

With temperatures dipping further, IMD officials issued an orange alert for Gurugram for the next two days, warning residents to brace for continued cold wave conditions and dense fog.

Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over Haryana (including Gurugram), Chandigarh & Delhi, with cold wave conditions continuing on January 13. Dense to very dense fog is likely in morning hours over northwest India (including Delhi-NCR/Haryana) for the next few days, which can cause visibility issues and travel disruptions.

Frost paints fields and cars white

The biting cold left visible signs across the outskirts of Gurugram. Several villages reported frost settling on crops and vegetation during the early hours of Monday.

Such frost formation points to near-freezing or sub-zero conditions, even if official urban readings vary slightly.

Residents also took to social media to share images of frost-covered cars and fields. Some even stepped out with temperature readers, curious to capture just how cold the morning had become.
