Gupt Navratri will begin today, January 19, 2026. The nine-day festival starts on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha and is marked by silent worship, intense sadhana and strict rituals dedicated to the nine forms of Maa Durga. Unlike the more public Navratris, Gupt Navratri is observed away from crowds, mostly by devotees, sadhaks and tantriks.

Hindus observe Navratri four times a year, Ashadha Gupt Navratri, Magha Gupt Navratri, Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri. The Magha phase is considered especially powerful for those seeking spiritual discipline and inner strength.

Gupt Navratri holds deep religious and spiritual importance. The festival focuses on worshipping Goddess Durga in a subtle and hidden form. The word “Gupt” itself means secret, reflecting the nature of the prayers and practices during these nine days.

This period is closely linked with Tantra Vidhya. Sadhaks and tantriks observe Gupt Navratri with discipline, silence and intense focus. Many believe this time helps them progress spiritually through practices like meditation, hatth yoga, chanting tantrokta and shabar mantras, performing hawan and observing strict fasts.
