Gujarat weather today: Monsoon rain continues as low-pressure area stays active over Saurashtra
Gujarat is likely to see light to moderate rainfall across several districts on Friday, September 18, as a low-pressure area over Saurashtra and the northeast Arabian Sea remains active. The India Meteorological Department has forecast rain in many parts of the state, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara. Rainfall activity is expected to continue in parts of Gujarat through September 23.

Gujarat rain forecast for September 18

On September 18, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places across Sabarkantha, Kheda, Anand, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kutch.

Some parts of Patan, Vav-Tharad, Mehsana and Banaskantha may also receive light to moderate rain.


From September 19 to 23, isolated areas of these districts are likely to continue receiving light to moderate rainfall.

What will Gujarat weather be like from September 24 to 27?

According to various models of the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting, scattered light to moderate rain is possible between September 24 and 27 in several districts.

The areas that may receive rainfall include Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Amreli, Surat, Tapi, Bharuch, Narmada, Banaskantha, Patan, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Mahisagar, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Bhavnagar and Botad.

Low-pressure system remains active over Saurashtra

The low-pressure area over Saurashtra and the adjoining northeast Arabian Sea remains active, with its associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above sea level.

The monsoon trough extends from Bikaner through Rohtak, Bareilly, Basti, Dehri, Ranchi and Digha towards the northeast Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over North Thailand is expected to move towards the North Andaman Sea by the evening of September 18. Under its influence, a new low-pressure area may develop over the region by the evening of September 19.

The system is expected to gradually intensify and move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the following three to four days.

A Western Disturbance-related cyclonic circulation is also active over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas at an altitude of around 3.1 km above sea level. Winds at lower levels are currently blowing from the south to southwest.

Ahmedabad weather today

Ahmedabad may receive rain accompanied by winds on September 18. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33°C, while the minimum may remain close to 26°C.

Rajkot weather today

Rajkot is likely to experience light to moderate rain, with winds possible in some areas. The maximum temperature may reach around 33°C, while the minimum is expected to be around 25°C.

Surat weather today

Surat may also receive rain accompanied by winds. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 32°C, with the minimum temperature around 26°C.

Vadodara weather today

Vadodara may see light rain along with winds on Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 32°C, while the minimum may remain near 26°C.
