Unseasonal rain with thunder and lightning is set to lash several parts of Gujarat for the next two days starting today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned. The sudden shift in Gujarat weather is being driven by the activation of three key systems — a cyclonic circulation, a western disturbance, and a rain-bearing trough — creating favourable conditions for widespread rainfall across the state.

According to the latest Gujarat weather forecast, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in multiple districts until April 4. Gujarat is likely to get some relief from the heat in the coming days, with the IMD forecasting normal-to-below-normal maximum temperatures in April. "During April 2026, monthly maximum temperatures are likely to be normal to below normal over many parts of the country," states the forecast by IMD, which has also indicated chances of isolated instances of a rise in heatwave days from April to June in Gujarat.
