Why are schools closed in parts of Gujarat?

Heavy rain has caused widespread disruption across Gujarat, particularly in the southern districts.

According to PTI, around 1,200 people have been rescued from rain-hit areas, while one rain-related death was reported in Tapi district.

The worst-hit areas include Valsad, where Umbergaon taluka recorded more than 1,100 mm of rainfall in just 16 hours.
