Gujarat cop resigns over Jantar Mantar protest to support PM Narendra Modi for 2029 Lok Sabha polls

A 32-year-old police constable in Gujarat has resigned from the force, saying he wants to dedicate himself to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and support the Narendra Modi-led government. Ramgar Mohangar, posted at Adesar Police Station under Kutch East Police, submitted his resignation to the Kutch East Superintendent of Police on August 14.

Mohangar has served at Adesar for more than three years. In his resignation letter and later statements, he referred to recent political developments and said he wanted to work full-time for the RSS and the BJP.

Vow to remain barefoot until 2029

Mohangar referred to a recent protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said he believed Pradhan should not have resigned but described the decision as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's team responding to demands from young people and working to protect national unity.


The constable also welcomed what he described as the NDA government's recent changes to the examination system. He said he now wanted to devote his life to strengthening the RSS and supporting the Modi government.

As part of his political commitment, Mohangar said he would remain barefoot until the Modi-led government returns to power at the Centre in 2029.

From farming family to police force

Mohangar comes from Hamirpar village in Rapar taluka of Kutch. He studied up to Class 12 before joining the police department as part of the 2019 batch.

He comes from a farming family and has five brothers and two sisters. He is married and has three children.

Mohangar said his connection with the RSS began during his childhood. He regularly attended local shakhas and continued his association with the organisation over the years. Before being posted to Adesar, he served in Gandhidham.

Police yet to accept resignation

Mohangar's resignation has not been formally accepted so far. After he submitted the letter, a Local Crime Branch (LCB) police inspector verbally told him that the resignation could not be accepted at present because the reasons mentioned in it were considered inappropriate.

Mohangar said he received a call from the police inspector and reported for duty at Adesar Police Station on Monday.

Until the department takes a formal decision on his resignation, Mohangar said he would continue carrying out his police duties whenever required.
