GTA VI becomes Netflix’s most-watched title: Extended Look records 31.1 million views, beats movies and TV shows

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look has become the most-watched title on Netflix for the week of August 24-30, outperforming several of the streaming platform’s latest movies and television shows despite being only a 27-minute video-game preview.

GTA VI Preview Records 31.1 Million Views On Netflix

According to Netflix’s weekly Top 10 rankings, the extended preview garnered 31.1 million views worldwide between its debut on August 27 and August 30.

The GTA VI footage also dominated Netflix’s English-language film chart, ranking No. 1 in 87 of the 93 countries monitored by the streaming service. The figures were initially reported by Variety and later picked up by TheWrap.

GTA VI Preview Beats Netflix’s Latest Movie Releases

The performance of the GTA VI preview is particularly notable because it surpassed several conventional movie releases on the platform.

The Whisper Man, starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott, secured the second position on Netflix’s English-language film chart with 23.2 million views after debuting around the same time.

The GTA VI preview therefore attracted nearly eight million more views than the Netflix film during the measured period.

GTA VI Also Outperforms Several Popular TV Shows

The extended look also recorded more views than several titles featured on Netflix’s television charts.

Death of the Pastor’s Wife led the TV category with 19 million views, while Beauty in Black Season 3 registered 13 million views.

With 31.1 million views, the GTA VI preview comfortably surpassed all three shows during the same tracking period.
