This timely measure is a significant step towards making vehicle ownership more affordable for consumers while boosting growth in the automotive sector.

"In line with this vision, we are proud to pass on the full benefit of the GST reduction to our customers, enhancing affordability and accessibility," he added.

He further stated, "This landmark reform not only simplifies the taxation framework but also reflects the government's commitment to sustainable economic growth and innovative mobility solutions. We are confident it will energise consumer sentiment and drive demand during the festive season."

The GST reforms are particularly significant for the automobile sector, one of the largest contributors to the Indian economy.

Petrol and petrol-hybrid cars, along with LPG and CNG variants not exceeding 1,200 cc and 4,000 mm in length, will now be taxed at 18% instead of 28%.

Diesel and diesel-hybrid cars of up to 1,500 cc and 4,000 mm will also enjoy the same reduction.

This festive season, the GST cut is expected to boost consumer sentiment, increase vehicle sales, and make car ownership more accessible for millions of Indians.
