Growing up without parents' care, Bihar girl is state topper in CBSE Class X

She lost her mother the day she was born. Later on, she was abandoned by her father. But Sreeja, who now lives with her maternal grandparents, fought all such odds to emerge the topper in Bihar in the CBSE X Board exams.

Sreeja, a student of Patna’s DAV Public School, secured 99.4% marks. She secured 100 marks in two subjects - Sanskrit and Science - 99 in English, Mathematics and Social Studies.

Her inspiring story was shared on Twitter by BJP MP Varun Gandhi. A video shows her proud grandmother saying she is "extremely delighted" with the results.


Talking about Sreeja's struggles, she says: "Her father left the girl after my daughter's death. We have not been in touch or seen him since then. He got married again and now he must be regretting after seeing his daughter's board result."

Sreeja aspires to become an electrical engineer, TOI quoted her as saying. She has already taken admission to the science stream in Class XI at the DAV-BSEB. Many took to Twitter to congratulate the girl and her grandparents.




Sreeja says the long hours of studies ahead of the exams never bothered her. “I am always good between studies and other activities. Before the exams, I solved a lot of question papers and revised them well."
