ABC’s longest-running scripted drama, Grey’s Anatomy, is set to return for its twenty-second season this month. The new season will consist of 18 episodes and will follow the aftermath of a catastrophic hospital explosion, promising high-stakes drama and emotional turbulence for fans of the medical series.

However, the show may not come to Netflix anytime sooner.

The new season is coming to ABC on October 9, 2025. However, Netflix usually releases the series in June. Considering the release timeline of Season 15 to 21, which all came in June that year, the Season 22 of Grey's Anatomy is also expected in June. So that means the new season will only come in June 2026 - almost seven months after the first episode of Season 22 drops in ABC. Netflix is expected release it in US first, in June, followed by its release in Netflix Canada in Autumn 2026. Since 2014, Netflix has maintained annual releases of the show’s new seasons, typically in mid-June for the U.S. market.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 22 Likely Cast

Season 22 will also see notable changes to the cast. Actors Jake Borelli and Midori Francis will not be returning as series regulars. Meanwhile, longtime star Ellen Pompeo will continue in her reduced role, narrating the season and appearing in seven episodes. Original cast members Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. remain the only actors confirmed to appear in every episode this season.
