The discovery was made after neighbours noticed an unusual odour coming from a locked room and reported it to the landlord.
Upon reaching the scene, the police found the room secured from the inside and decided to break open the steel gate.
Inside, they found the lifeless bodies of Chandresh Singh, his wife Nisha, brother Rajesh, and sister Babli, all hailing from Hathras and aged between 20 and 23.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the family had been boiling potatoes on a gas stove, which had a leak.
The lack of ventilation in the room, coupled with the steel gate, contributed to the tragic outcome.
The house had reportedly been locked for the past two days, according to information provided by concerned neighbours.
Chandresh Singh worked as a daily-wage labourer, while the other male family member operated a food cart selling parathas in the locality. The police have informed the family members, and an investigation is underway to gather more details surrounding the incident.
