Grandmother enters festival lucky draw, buys Rs 200 ticket under 6-year-old grandson's name, he wins Toyota Fortuner worth Rs 50 lakh.

A grandmother from Madhya Pradesh entered a festival lucky draw by buying a Rs 200 ticket in her six-year-old grandson's name. Nearly a year later, the boy has won a Toyota Fortuner SUV worth around Rs 50 lakh, after his name was announced as the first-prize winner in a draw organised at Shri Sarkar Dham in Abhapuri.

The boy, Medansh Raikwar, won first prize in a draw organised at Shri Sarkar Dham in Abhapuri, according to NDTV. His grandmother, Kiran Raikwar, had purchased the coupon during a Garba event and entered her grandson's name, without knowing it would eventually bring home a premium SUV.

How a Rs 200 coupon changed the family's fortunes

Kiran bought the lucky draw coupon when she attended a Garba event at Abhapuri Dham. The coupon cost ₹200, and she wrote Medansh's name on it before entering the draw.

The family had been hoping to buy a car for around two years. When Medansh's name was announced as the winner in 2026, the result brought an unexpected moment of happiness for the household.

A small purchase made at a festive gathering had turned into a prize worth several lakh rupees. The family was particularly delighted because owning a car had been a long-standing wish.

Drums, procession and puja mark the celebrations

Videos circulating online show the six-year-old receiving a celebratory welcome after his win. Relatives and local residents gathered as drums, including dhol and nagadas, accompanied the festivities.

The family also performed a puja and offered prayers after receiving the vehicle. The celebrations turned the child's win into a community occasion, with people gathering to congratulate him and his family.

The draw's reported prize value of around ₹50 lakh puts the win in the premium SUV category, far beyond the ₹200 spent on the original coupon.

Toyota Fortuner price in India, ex-showroom to on-road

Toyota Fortuner is a large, seven-seat SUV known for its imposing design, high ground clearance and strong road presence. Toyota describes the vehicle as having a “commanding presence” and highlights its established reputation in the premium SUV segment.

As of October 2026, the Fortuner's ex-showroom prices start at approximately ₹35.11 lakh and go up to ₹50.97 lakh for the range-topping GR-S variant, following a recent price revision. The final price depends on the variant, engine, transmission and drivetrain selected.

In Burhanpur, estimated on-road prices range from approximately ₹41.85 lakh to ₹61.50 lakh, according to auto reports. On-road prices include additional costs such as registration, road tax and insurance, so they are higher than ex-showroom prices.

How big is the Toyota Fortuner?

Toyota Fortuner measures 4,795 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,835 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,745 mm, while ground clearance stands at 225 mm.

Its three-row layout accommodates up to seven occupants, making it suitable for families who need additional seating. The SUV also has an 80-litre fuel tank and 296 litres of luggage capacity.

The vehicle's size, elevated stance and rugged construction contribute to its distinctive appearance on Indian roads. Its body-on-frame construction, shared in principle with utility vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux, is designed to support demanding driving conditions.

The cabin and equipment differ by variant. Depending on the version, buyers can get features such as ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 11-speaker JBL sound system and an 8-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add styling changes and additional convenience equipment.

For Medansh's family, however, the most important feature of their new SUV is that a Rs 200 coupon bought at a Garba celebration, a wait of nearly a year and a lucky draw that delivered a prize worth around Rs 50 lakh.
