Grand Theft: GTA 6 may cost Rs 9,000 in India, not Rs 5,999 as expected earlier

Grand Theft Auto 6, anticipated to be the most hyped game of the decade, could cost as much as Rs 9000 in India. If true, this would be a significant jump from earlier estimates of Rs 5999.

According to reports, developer Rockstar has spent over a billion on the game, making it the most expensive video game ever made. Rockstar has, however, not confirmed the price tag.

Notably at Rs 9,000, it would be lot costlier than the expected global retail price between $80 and $100. After regional adjustments and taxes, this could translate to a substantial increase for Indian gamers.


Earlier reports had indicated that GTA 6's Standard Edition might cost around ₹5999 in India.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) remains one of the most iconic and longest-running video game franchises, first introduced in 1997. Over the years, the series has offered players expansive, immersive worlds filled with both lawful and unlawful adventures, redefining the open-world gaming experience. While GTA 5 and GTA 6 are not traditional esports titles, their immense popularity among streamers and online creators continues to thrive. GTA 5’s roleplay (RP) servers have become a massive hit on streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, where players assume unique personas — from bank robbers to police officers — and create dynamic, player-driven stories. GTA 6 is expected to build on this momentum, potentially setting new trends in gaming content and further boosting streaming viewership and engagement across esports communities.

The game is rumored to offer a stunning open-world experience. Leaks suggest that Lucia will be a protagonist alongside Jason. Vice City is expected to be the setting for this tale of crime and corruption.

Leakers claim that over half the buildings in the game will be enterable. Vehicle handling is expected to feel more realistic. NPCs are rumored to react dynamically to players' actions.

Other expected features include an in-game social media system, enhanced AI interactions, and a relationship mechanic between the two lead characters.

The franchise boasts a significant cult following. Expectations are sky-high given Rockstar's established track record.

Rockstar is expected to announce the game’s official price closer to its release date, which is set for May 26, 2026. GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but a PC version will not be available at release.
