According to reports, developer Rockstar has spent over a billion on the game, making it the most expensive video game ever made. Rockstar has, however, not confirmed the price tag.
Notably at Rs 9,000, it would be lot costlier than the expected global retail price between $80 and $100. After regional adjustments and taxes, this could translate to a substantial increase for Indian gamers.
Earlier reports had indicated that GTA 6's Standard Edition might cost around ₹5999 in India.
GTA 6 Expectations
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) remains one of the most iconic and longest-running video game franchises, first introduced in 1997. Over the years, the series has offered players expansive, immersive worlds filled with both lawful and unlawful adventures, redefining the open-world gaming experience. The last major installment, GTA 5, launched in 2014, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter for over a decade. Now, GTA 6 stands as one of the most anticipated game releases of 2026.
The game is rumored to offer a stunning open-world experience. Leaks suggest that Lucia will be a protagonist alongside Jason. Vice City is expected to be the setting for this tale of crime and corruption.
Leakers claim that over half the buildings in the game will be enterable. Vehicle handling is expected to feel more realistic. NPCs are rumored to react dynamically to players' actions.
Other expected features include an in-game social media system, enhanced AI interactions, and a relationship mechanic between the two lead characters.
Rockstar is expected to announce the game’s official price closer to its release date, which is set for May 26, 2026. GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but a PC version will not be available at release.
