Got my dream job, salary doubled, still crying every day: Bengaluru techie asks if she should quit and return home
A 23-year-old woman is grappling with severe anxiety and panic attacks after landing her dream job in Bengaluru, despite a high salary and positive work environment. Relocating from her hometown, she finds herself overwhelmed and questioning her ...

In a social media post, the woman said she secured a position at her preferred company with a salary package that was double what she had initially expected. The job required her to relocate from her hometown to Bengaluru.
Excitement turns into anxiety after joining
The woman said she arrived in Bengaluru a week before her joining date to settle in and prepare for the transition. She added that she enjoyed her first few days in the city and found living in a paying guest accommodation and commuting by metro more comfortable than anticipated. However, she said her experience changed after she officially joined the company on Monday.
According to the post, she began experiencing intense emotional distress, including panic attacks, difficulty breathing and frequent bouts of crying. She said she often found herself in tears at her desk and regularly called her parents and partner from the office restroom for support.
Positive workplace but growing fear
The woman noted that her workplace environment had been positive, describing colleagues as friendly and the office as well-organised. She added that employees were provided with good facilities and food and that she had not yet been assigned significant work beyond mandatory training sessions.Despite these factors, she said she felt overwhelmed by the prospect of going to work each day and had even considered taking sick leave.
She also pointed out that she was not entirely new to the corporate environment, having previously worked at a multinational company in her hometown. However, that role followed a hybrid work model that required office attendance only twice a week.
Seeks guidance from online community
Questioning why she was reacting this way despite securing a long-awaited opportunity, the woman said her mind was urging her to quit and return home. She acknowledged that the current job market is highly competitive and expressed concern about walking away from a position she had worked hard to obtain.
Seeking advice from fellow users, she asked whether such feelings were common among professionals relocating for a new job and whether inviting her mother to stay with her for a few days might help her adjust to the transition.
