Google Meet is currently facing a major service disruption across India. According to the outage tracking website Downdetector.in, there has been a sharp spike in user reports, with nearly 2,000 complaints logged regarding connectivity issues.

Downdetector.in data reveals the breakdown of the ongoing Google Meet disruption in India. The majority of frustrated users, approximately 66%, are struggling with website-related glitches. Another 32% have flagged server connection failures, while a smaller group of 2% is reporting poor video quality.

The service blackout has hit major metropolitan hubs the hardest, with significant outage clusters reported in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

502. That’s an error

Many users reported seeing the message “502. That’s an error” when trying to join meetings, sharing screenshots of the issue on X as the outage spread.

A 502 error in Google Meet is a “Bad Gateway” message. It appears when Google’s servers or the systems connecting your request to the service temporarily fail to respond properly.

In simple terms, it means:

• Google Meet’s servers are having trouble
• The issue is usually on Google’s side, not your device
• The platform can’t load or connect you to a meeting at that moment

It’s a temporary server outage and typically gets resolved once Google stabilises the service.
