Google launches Energy, Memory saving modes for its Chrome browsers. Details inside

Google has launched Energy and Memory saving modes for its Chrome browsers on Windows, Chrome, Linux and Chromebook as well. The Energy saving mode will improve the memory efficiency of the devices and unload inactive tabs by default from the memory.

The Energy and Memory Saving modes will firstly enable reduced power consumption and thus decreased usage of the system. This feature will be automatically enabled on the upcoming versions of Chrome. The feature will help Google Chrome solve its longstanding ‘ resource hog’ issue.

The new features can be found in ‘Performance option’ on the Chrome settings page, from where it can be enabled or disabled. One can find the ‘Energy Saver’ option on the same page, which when turned on reduces background activities and disables certain animations and video frame rates.
