A Dublin-based recruiter, Dan Lanigan Ryan, who worked for Google has claimed that he was laid off as part of the company's recently started campaign to lay off 6 per cent of its staff (about 12,000 people), with his termination happening while he was on the phone.

Dan Lanigan Ryan entered Google on a fixed-term contract in November 2021 and was operating through Morgan McKinley, as per his LinkedIn page. Ryan stated in a LinkedIn post that he obtained a "dream job at a dream business (Google)" over a year ago.

In a LinkedIn post, Dan Lanigan Ryan reported his termination stating that he did not anticipate it to stop so abruptly after only 16 months, and he was shut out of the service in the midst of a call.

Dan went on to say that his contract had been renewed for another year and that he had been transferred to the Cloud Sales recruitment team, which he described as seeing "huge growth."
Ryan said that he was just in negotiations about a wage boost a week ago. He admitted that he had been taken off guard. He also praised his superiors and coworkers and stated that he is actively seeking a new career, 'wherever that may be.'

Numerous personnel who were laid off by the software giant as part of the continuing retrenchments have come out in recent times to tell their testimonies. While one employee was glad to return to work after his mother died, another pregnant employee was let go. A couple was fired four months after having a baby, while an employee who had been with the company for 16 years was fired at 3 a.m.
