Who is eligible for the Google offer?
If you want to get your free year of Google AI Pro, first head over to gemini.google/students and click Get Offer. You'll then need to log into your personal Google account, where you'll be prompted to verify your student status using SheerID. After that, Google says it should be a pretty straightforward signup flow, although being over a decade out of college by now, I'm not able to test it personally.Note that you will need to provide a form of payment, and that if you don't cancel the plan by the time the trial is over, your subscription will renew using your provided payment method. You also only have until January 31, 2026 to sign up for the trial.
-Verification is done via SheerID, where students need to prove their academic status.
-You must use a personal Gmail account (not a university-issued Google Workspace account) for signup.
-A payment method must be added during the signup flow, but Google says there will be a reminder before the trial ends so you can cancel

By offering a free year of AI Pro to students, Google is trying to deepen its presence in higher education. The suite of tools included is clearly designed to support studying, research, and creativity—helping students adopt AI early in their academic journey.
The main issue students may face is that their college might not be eligible for the trial, which SheerID manages. Google and SheerID have not provided a clear list of supported institutions. Google says that students who face verification problems can contact customerservice@sheerid.com
or visit the SheerID help center.
