Gold and silver prices fell sharply at the start of trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday
Gold and silver started the week on a softer note, with prices edging lower in early trade. The dip comes amid global uncertainty around inflation, interest rates, and geopolitical tensions, all of which are influencing investor sentiment. On Monday, the gold and silver rates fell amid geopolitical tensions. According to news agency PTI, gold has been under steady pressure in the international market. Prices have fallen for several sessions in a row, touching a near four-month low. Silver has followed a similar path, reflecting the broader weakness in precious metals.

The gold rate in India on Wednesday is Rs 1,45,520 per 10 gms while the silver rate in India is Rs 2,27,960 per 1 kg, according to the Bullions website.

Gold and silver prices fell sharply at the start of trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday, as rising tensions in the Middle East and inflationary concerns driven by higher crude oil prices strengthened expectations of elevated global interest rates. Silver futures on the MCX for May 2026 delivery declined by Rs 13,606, or 6%, to Rs 2,13,166 per kilogram. Meanwhile, gold futures for April 2026 delivery also dropped significantly, losing Rs 7,115, or 5%, to Rs 1,37,377 per 10 grams.

Among other precious metals, spot silver declined 3.2% to $65.61 per ounce. Platinum fell 2.9% to $1,866.65, while palladium edged down 0.5% to $1,397.25.
