"God works...," Ramaswamy responds to question of accepting a 'Hindu' president in US
Vivek Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old native of southwest Ohio, shared insights into his conventional upbringing, with parents who migrated to the U.S. from Kerala. Responding to Iowa voter Gunny Mitchell's Hindu faith, Ramaswamy asserted, "I am a Hindu....

Ramaswamy emphasised the common ground between Hinduism and Christianity, stating, "Based on my religious beliefs, I understand that every person is here for a reason and it is our moral obligation to fulfil that reason because God lives within each of us, even though God works through us in various ways, we are all equal."
The Ohio-born entrepreneur and politician went on to highlight shared values between the two religions. "My upbringing was quite conventional. My parents taught me that marriages are sacred, families are the cornerstone of society, abstinence before marriage is a viable option when things don't work out, and adultery is wrong. that enjoying life's pleasures requires giving something up. Are those values not from elsewhere?" Ramaswamy added.
Acknowledging that he might not be the ideal choice to spread Christianity, Ramaswamy affirmed his commitment to standing for the values upon which America was founded. "Would I be the best president to spread Christianity through this country, no I would not be the perfect choice for that," he admitted, but emphasised that he would still "stand for values that America was founded on."
