A video allegedly from Goa has gone viral on social media, showing reckless tourists driving their car into the sea—only to regret it soon after.

The clip was shared by an X user, @pushpendrakum, who claimed that the tourists drove their Toyota Fortuner straight into the water, “trying to act smart”.

However, they quickly realised that nature can be far more powerful and unforgiving. The vehicle was soon dragged deeper into the sea and got stuck mid-water. Later, a JCB machine can be seen rescuing the stranded SUV.

In the video, the car appears to be almost fully submerged at one point, raising concerns about significant damage. Experts note that saltwater exposure can severely impact a vehicle’s engine, electrical systems, and internal components, often leading to long-term corrosion.

Do note that such reckless driving could also invalidate the car's insurance.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked strong reactions online, with several users questioning why no action has been taken so far.

“This is total recklessness from tourists! India strictly bans vehicles on beaches to prevent accidents, but some still drive there like it’s a road. The car is likely ruined by saltwater corrosion. Comprehensive car insurance in India covers natural calamities like floods, but here it may not apply fully. Companies often reject or reduce claims for negligence, illegal beach driving, or avoidable risks. Better follow rules and stay off beaches!” a user commented.

Another wrote, “People ride horses on the beach for fun, though. Never understood the appeal of driving a car there.”

A third user pointed out that taking a car onto Goa’s beaches is banned under local laws.

According to Goa Police, driving any vehicle on beaches is strictly prohibited. Authorities have also laid down several do’s and don’ts for visitors. Consumption of alcohol in public places is not permitted. Littering, spitting in public places, beaches, parks, and public transport is prohibited. Public smoking is an offence, and smoking is allowed only in designated zones. Urination or defecation in public places is not permitted. Loud music in open areas after 10 pm is banned. The use of plastic is restricted, and violations may invite penalties. Nudity in public places and on beaches is also forbidden and punishable under law.
