Get Rs 500 reward for sending photos of improperly parked cars, says Nitin Gadkari
On Thursday, Nitin Gadkari announced that a 500 rupee reward would be given to anyone who clicks and shares the photographs of wrongly parked vehicles.

In an event called Industrial Decarbonization Summit, 2022 in New Delhi, Gadkari said that a fine of Rs 1,000 rupees would be imposed to the person who wrongly parks his vehicle. Out of this money, half of the amount (500 rupees) will be given to whosoever clicks the picture and shares it with the authorities concerned, he said.
However, it was not sure whether the Transport Minister meant it solely as a joke or whether the framework of this law was already in progress in the legislature.
Why was this comment prompted at the summit?
Gadkari said that wrong parking is a massive problem going unaddressed. He explained that the quantity of automobiles is significantly rising in the urban parts of the country. He mentions that sometimes there are cars for every member of the family.Gadkari's concerns remain that nobody is interested in setting up parking spaces accordingly.
He used his own home in Nagpur as an example. He said he owns 12 parking spaces, and none of his cars are ever parked on the roadside. He mentioned that in Delhi, people primarily treat roads as their parking spaces.
Talking about Electric Vehicles, Gadkari said it is important to have EVs as public transport. In the US, even sanitation workers have cars for their personal needs. He firmly believes that India will follow the same path soon.
Why we new car parking spaces
During the COVID-19 pandemic, car sales went south. But this year, car sales have seen a considerable spike.
Passenger vehicles from the dispatch to the dealers have increased twice the initial numbers as of May 2022. This is compared to the low number seen in May 2021 during the second wave of Covid.
According to the SIAM or Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the wholesale market of passenger vehicles witnessed a rise of 2.5 lakh units in May alone. This is astonishing when compared to the 1 lakh unit that was sold in May last year. This includes cars and other similar vehicles, not two or three-wheelers.
