People around the country took to Twitter on the first anniversary of General Bipin Rawat's death to pay respect to India's first CDS.

India honoured the first CDS of Indian Armed Forces and Padam Vibhushan recipient General Bipin Laxman Singh Rawat on the first anniversary of his death. The courageous decisions taken by General Bipin Rawat for the security of the borders as the first CDS of the country and the contribution made by him in keeping the morale of the armed forces will always be remembered.

People throughout the country took to Twitter on the first death anniversary of General Bipin Rawat's to pay respect to India's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and longest-serving general. Tributes are pouring down on social media as Union Ministers, top leaders, and people from across parties recall General Bipin Rawat, who was honoured with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, and Sena Medal.

General Bipin Rawat became the first commander in the Indian armed forces to be named Chief of Defence Staff in 2019. (CDS). The job was established as part of the government's endeavour to modernise India's armed forces. General Bipin Rawat served in the Gorkha Regiment. He was the fourth commander from the Gorkha Regiment to be appointed Chief of Army Staff.


Following the terrorist attack on the Indian Army's Uri base camp in 2016, General Rawat was engaged in the preparation of surgical strikes. As a consequence, an Indian Army squad infiltrated Pakistan-occupied Kashmir over the Line of Control (LoC). From South Block in New Delhi, General Rawat maintained a watch on proceedings.



The helicopter of India's first Chief of Defense Staff late General Bipin Rawat crashed a year ago on this day. General Rawat was also the 27th Chief of the Indian Army. General Rawat, his wife Madhulika, and 12 armed personnel died in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021.

Wing Commander Prithvi Singh was flying the helicopter that was the victim of the accident. After leaving the army base of Sulur, the helicopter was moving towards Wellington military base with General Rawat and the helicopter suddenly met with an accident about 94 km from Sulur.
